Dr. Maximilian Psolka has been involved in vision correction surgery for more than two decades at the local, regional, national and international levels. He retired at the highest rank of colonel from the U.S. Army in 2015 after 25 years of service.
Dr. Psolka was the leading refractive surgeon in the military over the past several years, performing PRK and LASIK on more than 5,000 soldiers, allowing them to complete their military missions without reliance on glasses or contacts. In addition to laser refractive surgery, Dr. Psolka is a national leader in intraocular contact lens (ICL) surgery and has significant experience in cataract surgery with a variety of monofocal, toric and multifocal intraocular lenses.
Dr. Psolka served as an ophthalmologist at Walter Reed in Washington D.C., West Point, New York and Fort Hood, Texas before joining Parkhurst NuVision in 2016.
Dr. Psolka earned his B.S. degree in civil engineering at Johns Hopkins University in 1990, then his medical doctorate from USUHS, America’s Military Medical School in Bethesda, Maryland, in 1995. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, then his subspecialty fellowship in cornea and refractive surgery at Johns Hopkins’ Wilmer Eye Center.
Dr. Psolka played collegiate football and track & field, then ten years of rugby (after the NFL snubbed him in the draft). He enjoys traveling, bicycling, lifting weights, dancing and music. He is a passionate football fan, both college and pro. He is also a dedicated father of two wonderful children. Dr. Psolka looks forward to bringing his twenty years of military medical experience to improve the vision of those in San Antonio and the surrounding Fort Hood community and all of Central Texas. Below are a few of the credentials that describe why we are so proud to have Dr. Psolka as part of the clinical care team at Parkhurst NuVision.
